Social Media Community Guidelines

Updated 2025

Across the social media platforms where SOLTI is present, we have the opportunity to share scientific knowledge, explain our research activity, and engage with our community of patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader public. We greatly value your comments, messages, and mentions.

However, as a scientific entity dedicated to clinical research in breast cancer, there are certain limits derived from our ethical, regulatory, and data protection obligations.

These guidelines are designed to ensure a positive, safe, and constructive space for all individuals who participate in our social media channels.

  1. Medical information, safety and adverse events

SOLTI is not a healthcare provider and cannot offer personalised medical advice.

If you share information about symptoms, adverse events, diagnoses, or treatments on our social media channels:

  • SOLTI cannot respond to individual medical cases without full clinical context and, in any case, not through social media. If you have questions regarding your health, we strongly recommend contacting your medical team or healthcare professional.
  • To protect your privacy, we will never respond to personal cases publicly. In specific situations, we may contact you privately to guide you on the appropriate process to report a potential adverse event associated with a medication.
  1. Questions about treatments, medications or clinical trials

As a regulated research organisation, within the context of social media:

  • We cannot engage in discussions about medical doses, therapeutic alternatives, clinical recommendations or clinical trials beyond the publicly available information on official (SOLTI or third-party) platforms.
  • Comments containing inaccurate information, comparisons between treatments, or unverified medical claims may be removed to prevent misinformation.
  1. Respectful Engagement

We want our channels to be a safe and constructive space. For this reason, we ask users to avoid posting content that includes:

  • Medical advice or personal diagnoses
  • Discriminatory, offensive, or derogatory language
  • Political, religious, or ideological content unrelated to our activities
  • Insults, personal attacks, or intimidating behaviour
  • Unfounded accusations or the dissemination of unverified information
  • Defamatory comments or spam
  • Promotion of illegal activities or inappropriate content
  • Confidential information, personal data (names, phone numbers, emails), or personal/third-party medical histories
  • Content that infringes copyright or intellectual property rights
  • Direct mentions of commercial medications, except in controlled scientific contexts

SOLTI may remove comments that violate these rules and, in cases of repeated non-compliance, restrict user participation to protect the integrity of our space and community.

  1. Data protection

Please remember that anything you share on social media may be visible to third parties, including platform administrators.

We strongly recommend not sharing health information or personally identifiable data.

Your interactions with SOLTI are managed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at www.gruposolti.org.

  1. Different channels, different audiences
  • Facebook / Instagram: content aimed at patients, the general public, and the broader community. Moderation is especially sensitive to issues related to privacy and health information.
  • LinkedIn / X / Bluesky: scientific, institutional, and professional communication. All of the above guidelines apply here as well, with particular emphasis on accuracy, respect, and scientific integrity.

Thank you for helping maintain a respectful and safe environment. We want our social media channels to be a space where science, community, and mutual support can thrive with confidence.
